Facilitation

Matthew is an experienced facilitator, delivering company class, auditions, and creative workshops based on his own work, and the work of the artists he has worked with. Alongside this Matthew has artistically assisted many choreographers in the development of new work, facilitated the staging of existing works and mentored dancers at various stages of their development.

Movement Class

The class emphasises whole body connection, spacious reach and depth, decisive weight, dynamic clarity, tonal exploration and discovered risk. Participants are encouraged to seek out challenge, driven by personal curiosity in both set material and guided improvisation, to playfully explore their unique individual potential.

Matthew also leads fully improvised movement research sessions. Driven by exploration the sessions encourage personal curiosity, connection and clarity. They are designed to be playfully serious and seriously playful.

Mentoring

As a mentor, Matthew has worked with many dancers at various stages of their development. Working to understand each individuals aspirations, Matthew believes in bespoke support, tailored to enable each individuals artistic journey.

Assistance

Matthew has worked with many choreographers, with a range of choreographic voices, in the development of new works. Seeking to understand both the specificity of each artists voice and the conditions which support their practice underpins the assistance offered. Matthew has acted as choreographic assistant, dramaturg and rehearsal director, offering what is needed to support artists and dancers in the creation of bold and nuanced choreographic work.
